Norwich City 12, Strollers 0.
After a couple of good wins in rounds one and two, this was a huge step up in class for Strollers.
Norwich City had been heralded by many in the weeks leading up to today’s game as being an exceptional team, amongst the very best in the country and likely to be one of the favourites in the competition as a whole.
With that kind of expectation there was clearly a lot of scope for them not meeting it but on a tight Carrow Park pitch they effectively gave a master class in how to play the game that we have all grown to love.
The Strollers squad was a man down from the original roster with England International, Paul Kirby having to pull out on short notice for unavoidable reasons. Those that remained went all out and put everything possible into the game which was effectively beyond us by half time where we went into the break 4-0 down.
A special mention should really be made of the contribution that Trevor Oliver made in the game, making a string of great saves to make sure that the score line was not even higher.
All we can really do is accept that today we came up against a team that was far superior to us and perhaps, if we can, learn something from the game that might help us to improve as a team in the future.
Huge thanks to all that played and conducted themselves within both the spirit and letter of the WFA rules despite the pressure we were under for the entire game.
Squad today was;
Andy Malton Colin Barrett-Treen Lee Tillen Paul Archer Tim Marsden Trevor Oliver Will Barrett
