An excellent day for the Strollers in the WFA Midlands Premier.
First up was the Stamford derby, Whites v Yellows. As expected this was a very tight affair but was settled by a very well taken goal from Paul Blakemore the game finishing 1-0 to the Whites.
The Whites then faced Hucknall. Early domination put the Whites ahead but a well hit toe poke brought Hucknall level. In a tetchy second half the Whites won through and eventually ran out comfortable 4-1 winners. Goals from Steve Longden, Paul Blakemore, Steve Christie and a dubious claim for the honours for a through pass that went straight into the goal from skipper Taff Lovesey.
Performance of the day went to the Yellows though with a 5-1 win against high flying Chilwell (2nd in league). After the disappointment of losing the derby and bolstered by the availability of Graham Curry for their second game, the yellows dominated this game. Two goals from Gary Wildsmith and Paul Marks plus another from Kurt Garbutt won the game.
