On a chilly winter afternoon on the East coast, the Strollers had a very comfortable win at Lynnsport, running out winners by 11 goals to 1. Stamford had the luxury of fielding a strong squad, made up of Mark Jordan in goal, Graham Curry marshalling from the back, Kurt Garbutt, Stephen Gates, Paul Archer, Grahame Robinson in midfield and Scott Sawers, Colin Barrett-Treen and Gary Wildsmith up front.
Lynnsport is a nice facility, with a very good 3G pitch, which was a similar size to Borderville, which clearly suited the visitors, who were 9 goals to nil at the half way mark. The second half was much more competitive with a well taken goal by the home side early on, followed by a further two goals from the Strollers. The Strollers front men did their job very well indeed, with 2 goals from Colin Barrett-Treen, 3 from Gary Wildsmith and 6 from Scott Sawers.
The match was played in a very good spirit, with the hosts looking after their visitors very well indeed, with an excellent performance by the referee, who was firm, but fair and applied the rules of the game consistently across the board.
An invite was extended to the home side for a return match at Borderville in the New Year.
