A good day for Stamford Strollers!
The 1st match saw the top of the table clash against league leaders and champions Boston. A keenly fought game with little between the sides Stamford just looking slightly more dangerous with Steve Adcock always a threat.HT 0-0. The second half saw a similar pattern with the decisive moment coming midway through the half when Steve Adcock laid on an assist for Chris Keirl to beat the England goalkeeper Sykes at his near post. Stamford’s solid defence was tested when Steve A was blue carded for running but to a man they held firm and saw the game out for a 1-0 win.
The 2nd game was much more comfortable with Stamford always in control.1st half goals from Steve Adcock and Graham Curry gave Stamford a 2-0 half time lead. In the second half Stamford again had to play for 2 minutes with a man short when Will Barrett was unluckily given a blue card after he collided with an Oakham player. It didn’t affect Stamford’s dominance as they ran in a further 3 goals through Bill Heath and Steve Adcock bagging 2 more for his hat trick.
So Stamford go top of the league with 10 points from their opening 4 games and 4 clean sheets. Boston are 2nd on 9 points.
